Elkhart County Parade

The Elkhart County 4-H Parade is one of the largest annual parades in the state of Indiana with approximately 140 floats/entries and 25,000 people! It is also the longest parade that we've been a part of so far--4 miles! We had a great time with many awesome and enthusiastic volunteers who walked with Timothy. Thank you to so many who braved the long distance on such a warm day to join us and show your support!

Freedom Isn't Free

I watched the flag pass by one day.

It fluttered in the breeze

A young soldier saluted it, and then

He stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform

So young, so tall, so proud

With hair cut square and eyes alert

He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him

Had fallen through the years.

How many died on foreign soil?

How many mothers' tears?

How many Pilots' planes shot down?

How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?

No Freedom isn't free

I heard the sound of taps one night,

When everything was still.

I listened to the bugler play

And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times

That taps had meant "Amen"

When a flag had draped a coffin

of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,

Of the mothers and the wives,

Of fathers, sons and husbands

With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard at the

bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.....
No -- Freedom isn't free!!

July 2nd, Walkerton Independence Day Parade

We had a great time at the Walkerton Independence Day Parade last night! A big thank you to 25+ volunteers who came out to walk with Tim.

Wesco at Mishawaka Summerfest and Elkhart Jazz Festival

It was a full but exciting weekend! Tim and supporters enjoyed the day at the Mishawaka Summerfest and Elkhart Jazz Festival. Unfortunately, the Lakeville parade, which was planned to take place first thing in the morning, was cancelled. This was disappointment for many Wesco supporters who had planned to walk with Tim. However, as the Saturday events unfolded, the the day turned out to be beautiful!

Parade begins at 9a.m., line-up at 8a.m.
Location: at Mangus Drive and US 31 (across the street from Subway)

MISHAWAKA SUMMERFEST
THIS Saturday, June 26th , 9a.m. – 5p.m.
Location: Kamm Island
The St. Joseph County Republican Party will have a booth
What you will be doing: Standing at the booth, mingling with voters and encouraging people to sign up to volunteer for the Wesco Campaign.
*Let me know what hours you would be able to help out: 9-1p.m., 1-5p.m., or the whole day.
